Althorp Estate
Althorp Estate is located in Northampton, Northamptonshire. It is home to the Spencer family and was once the home of Princess Diana in her teenage years and her grave is located here. She was buried on a small island known as the Oval at Althorp Park which can be seen from a distance. It has been the family’s home since 1508.
What is there to do at Althorp Estate?
Today, in the summer, you can look around the house and see one of Europe’s finest private collections of furniture, paintings and ceramics. You can also explore the grounds which are around 225 hectares in size. The extensive Gardens and lake are located within the estate and offer some stunning views for visitors to see along with enjoying the tranquil and peaceful surroundings of the English countryside.
The Exhibition is located within 6 rooms at Althorp and is dedicated to the life and times of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. The exhibition gives visitors an insight into the life of the Princess including audiovisual displays, letters, the royal wedding and details on charitable work carried out by the Princess. The exhibition is a tribute to the Princess and attracts visitors from around the world.
