The Armagh Observatory and Planetarium are located close to the city of Armagh, Northern Ireland. They are situated on around 14 acres of landscaped grounds known as the Armagh Astropark.

The Observatory was founded in 1790 and it has been conducting astronomical research ever since. It is the oldest continuously operating observatory in the world. The Planetarium is the longest-running Planetarium in the British Isles and it has been open since 1968.

In the Planetarium, there is a range of presenter-led shows under the dome. You will experience journeys around the solar system and the stars. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art digital projector system that provides an immersive experience. There is also an exhibition area with a range of interactive exhibits and a sensory room. Outdoors you can explore their new Augmented reality app and their scale model of the Universe around the Astropark.

There is a cafe serving food and drinks. You are welcome to picnic outdoors.

What are the main things to do?

Shows in the Planetarium, an indoor interactive exhibition with a sensory room, augmented reality app and an outdoor Astropark. There are toilets and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

One digital theatre show and exhibition entry is £9 per adult and under 16s are £6.50. Under 3s are free and family tickets are available.

There is free parking.
