Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle is the Scottish holiday home of the Royal Family and the grounds, gardens, exhibitions and coffee shop are often open in the spring and summer months to visitors. The castle is located near Craithe in Aberdeenshire.

The gardens were started under the supervision of Prince Albert and have been expanded and improved by other members of the Royal Family throughout its history. There is a charming rock garden surrounded by a fountain, a large kitchen garden and formal gardens of around three acres. Plus there is a water garden and an impressive front lawn.

There is an audio tour available to help you explore the grounds and exhibitions plus the ballroom at Balmoral. The audio tour lasts around one hour. It is worth noting that the ballroom is the only room in the castle open to visitors. They also offer the Balmoral Expedition which is a great experience for you to enjoy as a family. It includes a two-hour Landrover tour of the estate and is available every day from April until the start of August at £300 for a maximum of 5 people.
