What is there to do at Bankfield Museum?

It has been a museum since 1887 and it tells the story of Halifax and Calderdale using its diverse collections. The museum is set in attractive park surroundings. The building was once a Victorian mansion and it was the home to a local mill owner, Colonel Edward Akroyd.

The museum has been refurbished over the years especially after it received funding from the National Lottery. The rooms in the house now make up the different galleries. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions. They often have extra activities for children. The park is only small at around 8 acres but it’s a pleasant space to walk around.
