Bant's Carn Burial Chamber and Halangy Down Ancient Village
The Bant’s Carn Burial Chamber and Halangy Down Ancient Village are located on the Isles of Scilly near the coast of Cornwall. They are the remains of an ancient Iron Age Village set in a wonderfully scenic location. To visit you do of course need to get yourselves to the Isles of Scilly first. There are usually regular boats running from Penzance.
Bant’s Carn is a Bronze Age tomb of the type known as an entrance grave. On the slopes below there are the remains of the Iron Age settlement that was in use for about 500 years until the end of the Roman period. Some of the stone slabs used to retain the terraces of the village can still be seen. Why not bring a picnic and enjoy the breathtaking views over the neighbouring islands or walk along the coast to some other burial chambers?
