Barleylands Farm Park
Barleylands is a lovely little farm located within Barleylands Farm and Craft Village. With lots to do, even in the rain.
Things to do at Barleylands Farm Park
Outside there are 2 play areas, a bouncy pillow, a zip line, Barleylands speedway, farm football, and a bumpy tractor ride around the fields. A bag of animal food is £1 and there are lots of greedy animals waiting to be fed! Feed the goats and sheep in the outside paddocks then head down to the animal barn to see pigs, donkeys, cows, sheep, guinea pigs and more.
The animal barn is the place to be if you want to have a go at bottle-feeding lambs or meeting the calves, small animals, or donkeys at scheduled times throughout the day! At the ‘bottom barn’ you can find an indoor sandpit, shoot it out in a softball battle and sit for a photo op in the BFG chair. Ride on tractors are dotted around the farm for the kiddies to ride around the farm.
We headed into the reptile house for a meet with one of the new nocturnal animals, hosted by one of the very knowledgeable team. Here you will find nocturnal animals, you cant see at any other farm or zoo in Essex! introducing visitors to some unusual creatures, some of which are not found anywhere else in the South-East of England.
With over 30 exotic mammals, reptiles and amphibians, the new addition to the farm park’s Discovery Barn will offer hands-on experiences and talks alongside the displays to illustrate native habits and habitats, survival stories and unusual achievements such as the rat specialising in bomb disposal. Next door to the reptile house you can find the soft play and grab a cuppa or something to eat, before visiting the birds of prey or decorating a biscuit.
