Hornsea Freeport is an out-of-town retail shopping area. It is also home to two family-friendly attractions. Beach Cove and Bugtopia.

Things to do at Hornsea Freeport

Beach Cove is a relatively large indoor soft play area with an outdoor playground. Outdoors they have an adventure playground with a zip wire, giant bouncy pillows, a giant sandpit and an electric racing track. It’s certainly somewhere you can pass a good two to three hours if not more.

Bugtopia is next door to Beach Cove. When you visit Bugtopia at Hornsea you have the option of just visiting their tropical rainforest room or you can also book one of their regular animal encounter experiences. The tropical rainforest has all sorts of creatures inside and although it’s only small you can spend quite a while seeing what you can find.

We experienced one of their reptile/bug encounters. During our booked-in session, we enjoyed an engaging talk about reptiles and creepy crawlies and we were each able to hold a variety of creatures. Other sessions can include parrot training (it’s actually a macaw), civet feeding and incredible inverts. They usually have a trail on to help you find bugs in their ‘rainforest’.

Is there food and drink available?

There is a cafe in the soft play area selling hot and cold food and drinks.

What are the main things to do?

Beach cove with a large man-made beach, adventure playground with zip wire, bouncy pillows and more, soft play. Plus Bugtopia which has a rainforest room and experiences such as reptile handling. There are toilets and a cafe in the soft play area plus toilets opposite Bugtopia.

What are the ticket prices?

Adults are free at Beach Cove and children just over £5,00 at peak times and just under £4.00 at non-peak times.
Adults are £6.00 to visit Bugtopia children are £5 and under 2s are free.
