Belfast Zoo

Belfast Zoo is situated on the outskirts of Belfast in County Antrim. It is located on the northeastern slope of Cavehill and it attracts some of the largest numbers of visitors in the area.

There are over 500 animals at the zoo with more than 110 species and 55 acres to explore. You can take an audio tour around with you and you will be able to learn more about the zoo’s history and the animals, who call it home.

For children, there is an exciting play park which allows visitors to cross Crocodile Creek, tunnel through a meerkat mound or slither to Snake Island. There are picnic benches nearby making it a great spot for families to stop and rest.

The zoo has some paths with steep gradients meaning there are some great views of Belfast along the way. Animals you can see include elephants, giraffes, zebra, chimpanzees, gorillas, lions, penguins, sea lions, reptiles and so many more. You can also watch a number of animals being fed at different times of the day.

Is there food and drink available?

There are two cafes serving food and drinks. You are welcome to picnic outdoors.

What are the main things to do?

Large zoo with a great range of animals, set on a hill with views of Belfast, there is a play area and daily feeding times. There are toilets and cafes.

What are the ticket prices?

Tickets are cheaper if bought online in advance. Adults £13, children aged 4-16 £6.50, under 4 are free and family tickets are available.
Prices are subject to change and/or discounts online.

Is there parking?

There is free parking.

When are they open?

Belfast Zoo is open for most of the year, they are closed on the 25th and 26th of December. For up-to-date opening times please visit their website.
