Bicton Park is a botanical garden dating back to the 18th century with formal gardens, greenhouses, a children’s play area indoors and outdoors, a train and a cafe. The gardens are located in Budleigh Salterton, Devon.
Things to do at Bicton Park Botanical Gardens review
There are over 64 acres to explore at the park which is home to many rare and beautiful plant species from all around the world. The greenhouses are themed with a Palm house, Tropical house, Arid house and Temperate house. There is an arboretum with a bird hide. The Bicton woodland railway runs through the arboretum (small additional charge). Plus there is a countryside museum with lots to see. There is a large exhibition hall with traction engines, vintage machinery, tractors and more.
The gardens are also themed with an Italian garden with a tiered fountain, stone obelisk, smaller fountains and more. There are the American and stream gardens, Mediterranean and rose gardens. Plus kids will love the Fernery and shell house and the Hermitage garden.
Bicton Park has an indoor soft play area with a ball pool, slides, climbing frames, inflatable helter-skelter and an under 5s area. Outdoors there is a large adventure playground with zip wire, tunnel slides, drop slides and more. Plus crazy golf, astroturf football pitch, miniature thatched play cottages and ride-on pedal tractors. The playground is for children up to the age of 12.

There is a restaurant and an Orangery serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to picnic in the designated picnic area.

What are the ticket prices?
Tickets are discounted if purchased online in advance. An adult ticket purchased in advance costs £10.75, children 2-17 are £9.95. Under 2s are free. Other pricing options are available. The train and mini golf have additional charges.

When are they open?

Dogs are welcome on a lead. They charge £1 per dog.
Are they accessible?
The gardens are wheelchair friendly, but please note that there are some steep slopes and steps throughout. The Easy Path in the Mediterranean Garden is recommended for access to the museum and lower garden levels.
