Bitts Park

Bitts Park is located in the centre of Carlisle, Cumbria, near Carlisle Castle. It is a peaceful haven close to the city’s centre and it comprises formal gardens, riverside walks, a children’s play area and a splash park.

Things to do at Bitts Park

Within the park, there are several distinct areas including formal lawns and floral displays and large playing fields. It was the very first public park to be established in Carlisle and some of the paths date back to 1818.

The play area is large and well-appointed. It caters for children of all ages and abilities. The splash park has an interactive water feature and it is located within the play area. This is only active between Easter and October and is outside temperature dependent.

There is a large and robust skate park plus running/walking routes which are waymarked throughout the park. The park also has an outdoor gym facility and the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail runs along the riverside boundary of the park.
