Branksome Chine Beach

Nestled on the coast of Dorset, Branksome Chine is a Blue Flag-awarded beach that’s a favourite among locals and often quieter than other sections of the Bournemouth coastline. The vast expanses of golden sand slope gently into the water, creating the perfect environment for families with young children. Safety is a top priority, with RNLI lifeguards patrolling the beach from May through September. Please note that dogs are not permitted on the beach during these months.

Located just off Pinecliff Road is the beachfront car park, which can fill up quickly in the summer, so arrive early to ensure a spot. At Branksome Chine Beach, a well-appointed cafe/bar/restaurant offers a variety of options, complemented by ample outdoor seating. Need to grab something on the go? A takeaway cafe and beach shop provide hot drinks, ice cream, and other refreshments.

Alternatively, electric barbecues are readily available at Branksome Chine from Easter until the end of October. They operate between the hours of 10 am and 10 pm, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also use disposable barbecues between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., but make sure to use them responsibly by letting them cool down, dousing them with water, and picking up any rubbish.

For water sports enthusiasts, there’s a designated area on the beach for launching paddleboards, kayaks, or windsurfers. Additional facilities, including toilets and a beach office, are conveniently located near the car park.
