Bridlington South Beach
Bridlington south beach in East Yorkshire is by far the largest of the two beaches, in Bridlington, although the north beach isn’t small by any means. South Beach also has the best sand (in my opinion). It stretches for miles, although it is no longer Bridlington Beach once you reach Fraisthorpe.
What is there to do at Bridlington South Beach?
South Beach Bridlington is the more popular of the two beaches, and even at high tide, there’s still plenty of sandy beach for everyone. As well as public toilets just a short walk from the beach there’s even a paddling pool which is great fun for the kids. This is next to the beach chalets some of which are available to rent.
Bridlington Spa is located at the top end of the beach where you can enjoy theatre and other events,. Just a short walk from here is the harbour with pirate ship rides, speedboats and bird-watching cruises. You are then just another short walk from the rides and amusements.
There are no opportunities for rock pooling on this beach but it’s a great spot to fly a kite, build a massive sandcastle or go on a donkey ride. Richie’s Cafe bar serves a good selection of hot and cold food and drinks. You can even purchase wonderful take-away fish and chips to enjoy on the beach. They also sell ice-creams and there’s a shop next door full of beach goods.
There is pay-and-display parking on the road alongside the beach although if you arrive after 10 am your best bet is parking at the park and ride and getting the land train to the Bridlington spa.
