Calbourne Water Mill

Calbourne Water Mill

Calbourne Water Mill is a working mill with demonstrations, a war museum crazy golf and activities on the water. This is the only working water mill on the Isle of Wight. It is set in 35 acres of stunning rural landscape. The mill dates back to the Domesday Book.

What is there to do at Calbourne Water Mill?

Make sure you take some bird-friendly food as there are usually plenty of ducks, geese, peacocks, moorhens and even doves to feed. There is a beautiful ancient woodland to walk around in that is home to red squirrels. You can also feed the fish in the mill stream and depending on the season there are eels in the stream at the bottom of the hill. You can purchase food for both birds and fish on-site.

If you have the energy it’s worth walking to the top of the hill for some fantastic views. Other things to do include a small and interesting war museum. Plus there are many little rural museums. They have Lego tables and giant chalkboards. Plus there is adventure golf by the side of the mill stream at just £3 each.

If you fancy going out on the water you can hire out punts or pedalos (£7.50 per punt/pedalo for 30 minutes). You can also have a go at croquet or petanque for £1 per person. Families are welcome to have a go at air-drying clay activities at just £2 per person.
