Calderglen Zoo and Country Park

The Calderglen Zoo and Country Park are located in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire. It is a parkland with a children’s zoo, ornamental gardens, a conservatory, walks and an adventure play area. Formerly part of the Calderglen and Torrance Country Estates the house is now used for art exhibitions. The northern section of the park is a geological site of Special Scientific Interest and has many important geological features.

The zoo is about an acre in size and is home to over 50 different species, some of which are critically endangered. The zoo specialises in small creatures including meerkats, monkeys, kookaburras, coatis and burrowing owls. Inside the conservatory, there are displays of tropical plants and an ornamental garden. For younger children, there is a dedicated play area and for older children, there is a more demanding adventure play area.
