Caledonian Railway

The Caledonian Railway offers heritage railway trips from Brechin station in Angus, Scotland. The Caledonian Railway was a major Scottish railway that formed a link between English railways and Glasgow. Today a 4-mile stretch is run by a group of steam railway enthusiasts and they run tourist trains between Brechin and Montrose.

The line their trains run on was built by the Aberdeen railway in the 1840s and closed for passenger traffic during the early 1950s. The line has two refurbished stations and trains run at weekends during the summer as well as on special occasions at other times of the year.

One of the railway’s main event days is their popular Days out with Thomas. These take place a few days most years. The railway line takes you on a journey through the local Angus countryside.
