Museum Overview
The Cambridge Museum of Technology is located on Cheddars Lane in Cambridge. It is an industrial heritage museum and the building it is housed in is a scheduled ancient monument. It is an old combined sewage pumping and waste destructor station that was originally built in 1894.
At the museum, you can learn all about the story of sewage and waste disposal at the Victorian pumping station. Some of Cambridge’s forgotten industries are celebrated through exhibits and you can explore their industrial heritage around the site.
For families, there are changing family trails and explorer boxes. These are included with entry and can be picked up at the ticket office. Around the museum, there are activity stations with puzzles, smells, colouring in and objects to touch and feel. There is dressing up and Victorian outdoor games.
