Camera Obscura and World of Illusions
Camera Obscura and the World of Illusions is located in the Castlehill section of Edinburgh, Scotland, close to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. It has five floors packed full of over 100 illusions and hands-on exhibits. Plus they have some pretty amazing rooftop views over Edinburgh.
Things to do at Camera Obscura and World of Illusions
Right at the top, you will find the Camera Obscura show. It is a dark room with a large table and a beam of light. What happens next is like nothing you’ve seen before. On the rooftop, you have an unbeatable vantage point of Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile and the Firth of Forth. There are telescopes to take in the view.
On the 5th floor, there is the Magic Gallery. This has a variety of cool optical illusions and hands-on interactive experiences. There are plasma tubes and globes that bring electricity straight to your fingertips. On the fourth floor, there is Light Funtastic. This is filled with interactive fun, tricks and illusions, many are unique to the attraction.
On the third floor is Eye Spy Edinburgh. You can discover Victorian and 3D cityscapes alongside their view cams. You can use their cameras and mirrors to view yourself in a new way plus their thermal cameras will show you just who is hot and cold. On the 2nd floor, there is Bewilderworld with its biggest and most amazing illusions. Lose yourself in a magic mirror maze, then try to stay stood upright in their Vortex tunnel. Finally, on the 1st floor, you will find their shop and reception.

There is no on-site cafe, they sell snacks in their shop. There are plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby.

What are the ticket prices?
Tickets are cheaper if bought online in advance. An adult ticket online costs £19.95 and children aged 5-15 are £15.95. Under 5s are free. Other pricing options are available.
