Canterbury Cathedral

Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England. It is located in the centre of the city of Canterbury in Kent. The cathedral was first established in 597 AD when Augustine was sent by Pope Gregory the Great to reintroduce Christianity to England. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site with some spectacular stained glass windows and architectural triumphs.

You can also take an audio tour around with you which will bring the Cathedral’s story to life. These are an accessible way to engage the whole family. You can also see an exhibition in their Water Tower with digital elements that bring history to life.
Other highlights include the Quire, the tomb of the black prince, St Augustine’s chair, the Martyrdom and the great cloister plus the chapter house. They also run a programme of annual events including family-friendly activities.
