The Cholmondeley Castle Gardens are located in Malpas, Cheshire. The castle was more recently built than most in the early 19th century. The Cholmondeley family have lived on the lands of the estate since Norman times.

What is there to do at Cholmondeley Castle Gardens?

Nestled within the historic parkland there are over 70 acres of beautiful gardens to explore. They offer magnificent displays through the seasons. Features include a romantic Temple and Folly water gardens. There is a rose garden, arboretum and ornamental woodland.

Plus there is a newly created Lavinia Walk which is a 100-metre-long double herbaceous border. The castle and gardens provide a stunning backdrop to a host of annual events, with something for everyone.

The den is an exciting space for little ones to explore with a bug hotel and a cute natural play space. There is also a play area situated by the Mere close to the picnic area. The Deer Park Mere and Nature Trail gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The Mere has an extensive bird and waterfowl population.

There is a pub next to the venue serving food and drinks plus a cafe in the gardens. You can also bring a picnic.

Large gardens you can explore with a natural play area and a children’s play area. There are toilets and a cafe.

Adults are £8, children aged 5-15 are £4 and children aged under 5 are free.

The gardens are open from early April to late September on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (and bank holidays). For up-to-date opening times please visit their website.
