Claigan Coral Beach Skye

Claigan Coral Beach Skye

The Isle of Skye has plenty of beautiful beaches but one, in particular, is favoured by visitors. Claigan coral beach is favoured for its large mounds of broken pieces of coral washed up on the beach.

It’s certainly fun to sift through and the waters are stunningly turquoise! To get here you need to drive North from Dunvegan Castle for 10 minutes to reach the car park. Don’t park on verges or in front of gates, farmers need to access their fields! I suggest coming first thing in the morning or later on in the evening when it’s quieter. The car park isn’t huge and as it’s a single-track road it can get congested during busy times.

It’s a 30-minute walk from the car park to the beaches, so if you want a longer walk it may be better to visit Dunvegan Castle first and leave your car parked there (4.3 miles from the coral beach car park) and enjoy the walk without any parking stresses!

There’s an obvious path to follow, but don’t expect any facilities. There are no toilets, cafes or water available here, it’s simply a beautiful beach the public can visit. So please bring water and snacks with you and take your rubbish home with you too!
