Coalhouse Fort Park

Coalhouse Fort Park

Coalhouse Fort Park is an artillery fort located in East Tilbury, Essex. The fort was built in the 19th century to guard the lower Thames against seaborne attack. Its location was once vulnerable to raiders and invaders.

The fort stands within a parkland setting and features a number of WWII gunnery posts. The park is a great place to enjoy riverside walks. There is a children’s play area and picnic areas. The fort itself is only open on special open days and events. It was open up until 2020 however, since the Coalhouse Fort Project was disbanded it does not appear to be open to the public.
