Corris Steam Railway

The Corris Steam Railway is based in Corris on the border between Merionethshire and Montgomeryshire in Mid-Wales. It is a narrow-gauge preserved railway whose origin dates back to the 1850s.
You can ride in an old-fashioned steam train on a journey that is great for families. They are busy working on extending the line and building a second new steam locomotive. The line was initially built as a horse and gravity-worked tramroad to carry slate from the quarries.
Today you can see animals, rivers and woodland on a steam train ride through the countryside. There are workshops and a free museum at Corris. There are original slate-carrying wagons that you can see and children can play with small-world toys, plus a playground and a family quiz. A round trip takes around 50 minutes. You can only purchase a return ticket as all journeys must start and end at Corris station.
