Croome National Trust

Croome National Trust

Croome is a National Trust property near Worcester, in Worcestershire. It is a partially restored 18th-century house with Capability Brown landscaped gardens. At Croome, you can expect the unexpected with its colonial links, a remarkable survival story and its magnificent restoration.

What can you do at Croome?

There are contemporary exhibitions and installations that tell Croome’s stories in new and interesting ways. They have developed innovative ways to share pieces from their collection. It has moved away from traditional ways of exhibiting historic pieces with the aim to capture visitors’ interest and curiosity in objects like never before. In the basement of the house, there is a house that kids can take apart and put back together again plus an activity room.

There is also a museum – RAF Defford. Here you can discover the secrets of the Second World War airbase wartime building. The museum reveals the once-secret story of RAF Defford with wartime artefacts, emotive personal possessions, videos and costume displays.

They often have family-friendly trails available so make sure you enquire at reception when you arrive. Within the grounds, there is a natural play area where kids can test their balance on tree trunks, build dens, sit on a wooden throne and scramble over logs amongst the trees. They also have an RAF-themed playground where children can let their imaginations run wild. There is a control tower, a scramble net, a bunker, slides and swings. If you want to go for a walk there is a good 1.5-mile long circular walk on hard-surfaced paths including lakeside walk and historic buildings.
