Cwmcarn Forest
Cwmcarn Forest is located near Newport in Monmouthshire. It is in South East Wales and offers walking and cycling trails including mountain bike trails. There are also a number of play areas dotted around the forest. They even have glamping pods, luxury lodges and a campsite within the forest.
If you don’t want to get out and walk you can also take a drive around the site. You can meander around the twisting bends and allow the enchanting forest to immerse you and leave the rest of the world behind. This has reopened after a significant investment. There are 7 car parks where you can park and enjoy the views or a picnic and even a BBQ.
There are three new adventure playgrounds including sensory tunnels, a woodland sculpture trail and several all-ability trails along the route. You can download a drive guide from their website which will help you plan your route and your stop-offs.
Within the forest, there are three mountain bike trails and another coming soon. These are two red-graded difficult trails and one extreme trail. There are also some of the best walking trails in Wales with a number of routes to choose from.
