Dean Castle Country Park
The Dean Castle Country Park is located in the heart of Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, Scotland. It is a 200-acre rural valley park with wooded trails and a 14th-century castle museum.
At the park, you can learn more about sustainable living and enjoy some beautiful woodland walks. Children can run wild in the adventure playground and explore the Urban Farm where you can meet their farm animals. There are lots of animals to see including horses, pigs, llamas, goats, rabbits and ducks.
The play space has been inspired by the castle and is deliberately different from the local urban playparks. There are musical instruments, a trampoline and a roundabout. Plus a hedgehog slide, swing, balance boards and a see-saw for younger children and an adventure play unit and swings for children aged 7-12.
There is an extensive events programme throughout the year including pond dipping, nature walks, family fun days and more. The castle is currently undergoing restoration work allowing it to be enjoyed for future generations to come. There are over 7km of trails to explore with varying degrees of difficulty.
