Dinosaur Isle
Dinosaur Isle is a family-friendly museum in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. It is a purpose-built dinosaur attraction in a building shaped like a Pterosaur flying across the sky.
What is there to do at Dinosaur Isle?
The collection currently consists of around 30,000 geological specimens including many fossils. They reflect the Island’s history ranging from the Early Cretaceous period. The collection contains partial and near-complete dinosaur skeletons, rock and mineral specimens and more. There are around 1000 of their best fossils on display in an exhibition gallery.
In the large dinosaur gallery, there are exciting displays with fossils, skeletal reconstructions, life-size fleshed dinosaur re-constructions and two animatronic dinosaurs. It is an all-year-round facility and the displays use clever lighting, artwork, sound and smells. There is also a working laboratory on view. The museum also offers fossil walks for an additional cost.
