The Dorset Heavy Horse Farm is an award-winning farm park and it is a family-friendly attraction which is home to over 20 rare-breed heavy horses, blacksmith displays, animals, you can pet, vintage trucks and more.
Things to do at Dorset Heavy Horse Farm
At the farm, you can meet their rare breed of heavy horses and learn all about their important role in history through talks and demonstrations. They also have a display of vintage trucks, wagons, blacksmith’s workshops, harness makers and there’s even a static canal display. Plus a recreated World War I field trench, colliery pit ponies and a vintage cider press.
The farm is home to lots of animals, eager to meet you. Interaction and hands-on learning are encouraged. There are daily feeding tours or you can feed the animals, at your leisure. There are both rescued animals and rare breeds. Animals include horses, ponies, donkeys, alpacas and pigs. Plus goats, sheep, rabbits, birds and more. Hands-on activities include pony grooming, stroking sessions, miniature pony carriage rides and heavy horse carriage rides.
There is a range of adventure play areas including vintage fairground rides, a play park with zip wire, a play barn, a straw mountain play barn and sandpits. They also have toy town pedal tractors, an undercover pedal go-cart arena and a drop slide. Your visit includes – Heavy Horse draw carriage Rides, Tractor and Trailer rides and Tractor driving – “Drive a real Tractor! Miniature pony and cart rides, Children’s fairground rides.

Smokey Joe’s Cafe serves hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

What are the ticket prices?
An adult ticket costs £11.75, children 3-15 are £10.75. Under 2s are free and other pricing options including family tickets are available.
