Duart Castle

Duart Castle is located on the Isle of Mull in the Hebrides. The castle dates back to the 13th century and it is the seat of Clan MacLean. It dominates the local area next to Loch Linnhe and the sea with its huge curtain walls and solid keep. It is sited on a high crag at the end of a peninsula jutting into the Sound of Mull. The castle was completely refurbished around 1911 and before this date, it had been a ruin since the 18th century. There is a magnificent Great Hall, a state bedroom and more.
There is a Clan exhibition area at the top of the castle and it celebrates its place in history as one of the last surviving privately owned Clan castles in Scotland. You can also explore the ghostly dungeons and ancient keep, walk the battlements and enjoy some truly breathtaking views.
In the grounds, you can explore the Millennium Wood and Duart Point which is a promontory that can be explored on foot. In the summer months, they host a number of family-friendly events, and the castle has been featured in a number of films.
