Eglinton Country Park

Eglinton Country Park

The Eglinton Country Park is located in Eglington near Irvine, Ayrshire. It is located on the grounds of the old Eglinton castle estate and covers an area of 990 acres, 98 acres of which are woodland.

The central feature of the park is the ruined castle which has a tall tower still intact and a few low-lying ruined walls. There are three main walking routes around the park, these range from 2.2 miles to 4 miles. The grade of routes varies from flat to steeper sections with some dirt paths throughout.

Near the visitor centre, there is a fenced play area for under 8s. There is also a larger adventure playground for older children adjacent to this. The park also offers a network of safe, traffic-free routes for cyclists. There are also fishing pegs around the 6.5-hectare loch. You will need an Eglinton Country Park permit to fish there. Also in the park, there is a pretty Tournament Bridge and standing stones.
