Eltham Palace and Gardens

We did both Chislehurst Caves and Eltham Palace in one day, but you can spend longer at Eltham Palace and make a day of it, especially in the summer with a picnic.
What is there to do at Eltham Palace and Gardens?
They have a playground and cafe along with the palace and gardens. Out children loved the playground with its wooden play equipment and grass to run around. There are 19 acres of grounds to explore and the art deco mansion which is really something. One of the previous owners was a real animal nut and had many exotic animals, including a lemur. He loved the lemur so much that he had his own tailor-made cage inside the house.
We loved the interactive nature of you house. You can try on 20s clothes and really feel like the Lord/Lady of the manor. The fur coats and dresses are amazing. There are so many sumptuous rooms to explore and experience the extravagant nature of the 20s.
You can also explore the medieval Tudor palace with its great hall, imagining vast balls taking place. The gardens are beautiful with lots of manicured areas along with the more rugged parts to explore. They have a pond with fish in that love to come up and say hello. You can get fish food for them and watch them play.
