Fairbourne Railway
Fairbourne Railway is a miniature railway that runs for two miles along the Mid-Wales coast. It runs from the village of Fairbourne, alongside the beach to the end of a peninsula at Barmouth Ferry railway station. Here there is a connection with the Barmouth Ferry across the Mawddach estuary to the seaside resort of Barmouth.
The line first opened in 1985 and it was originally a horse-drawn construction tramway. It was later converted in 1916 to the line it is today. The railway has carried holidaymakers for over a hundred years.
The railway has a line around 2 miles in length and they have four steam locomotives. There is a museum and an indoor model railway with a large G-scale layout. There are two cafes at either end of the line. There are family-friendly things to do near the stations including play areas, amusements and more.
