Five Sisters Zoo

Five Sisters Zoo

The Five Sisters Zoo is in the West Calder area of Scotland. It is home to over 196 species of mammals, birds and reptiles with indoor and outdoor play areas.

Things to do at Five Sisters Zoo

The owners of the zoo are passionate about animals and have rehomed many pets that were no longer wanted or could be cared for. A large focus of the zoo is its three bears and four lions that were once circus animals. Two of their bears were rescued from a roadside restaurant in Albania. Other animals include meerkats, snow leopards, arctic wolves, lynx and more.

The zoo runs a range of keeper talks and feeds. For an additional fee, you can book some of the more special activities such as animal encounters (£3 pp) and lemur feed (£6 pp). The talks have no additional charge, numbers are limited on the encounters but they usually have a few every day.

The outdoor play area has swings, slides, a carousel, go-karting, various rides and a pirate ship from their old castle play area. You can purchase tokens (£1 a token) and use them on the rides. These include an animal train, ladybugs and pirate ship rides that require 1 token. Go-kart racing 2 tokes and mini diggers 3 tokens. Rides are only open on busy days during peak season.

Leaping Lemurs is their four-level indoor soft play frame. They also have special baby and toddler zones plus a cafe with seating. You can visit either soft play or the zoo or both together. They can even host your child’s birthday party. They also host a range of annual events.
