Fochabers Folk Museum and Heritage Centre

Museum Overview
The Fochabers Folk Museum and Heritage Centre are located in Fochabers in the Scottish highlands. It first opened in 1984 and today it houses a collection of gigs, carriages and an eclectic array of everyday objects that show the way of life and traditions of the northeast of Scotland in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The aim was to collect and preserve personal photographs and memories of Fochaberians past and present. What has been achieved is an ever-growing archive of fascinating photos, papers and maps plus everyday objects.
You can experience school days of the past in the Milne’s schoolroom which has been set up to celebrate Alexander Milne the founder of Milne’s Free School and a native of Fochabers. There is a WWII gallery plus rooms set up with mannequins and many historical objects.
The museum has an information leaflet ‘A Stroll around Fochabers’. This gives visitors a brief tour of the village and its history and is worth taking with you for a wander around the village.
