Fort Grey Shipwreck Museum
Museum Overview
The Fort Grey Shipwreck museum is located on the Island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. At the museum, numerous shipwrecks are on display in a well-preserved Martello tower fortification. The fort is built on a small tidal islet that was originally built to defend Rocquaine Bay. It is connected to the mainland by a raised causeway and is known as the “Cup and Saucer”. As well as being home to the Shipwreck museum it also offers excellent views of the bay and the nearby lighthouse.
The shipwrecks are displayed with information on how they came to sink off Guernsey, these are mainly in the form of timbers from the original boat. You can borrow free, Discovery Sacks from the shop which is filled with objects and activities to help children explore the tour. There is also an interpretation centre, trails, quizzes and spot-it picture boards plus a dressing up trunk.
