Foxton Boat Services
Foxton Boat Services runs boat trips from Foxton near Market Harborough, Leicestershire.
What is there to do at Foxton Boat Services?
All of their boat trips start from the bottom of the famous Foxton flight of 10 locks outside the Bridge 61 pub. There is plenty to see as their boat tours will take you through some beautiful Leicestershire countryside. These trips run on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holiday afternoons from April to October. Plus they also try to operate trips on weekday afternoons during the school holidays.
After your boat trip, why not spend some time watching boats using the 10 Foxton locks? Kids will love seeing how the locks fill and empty of water to move the boats up or down the locks. There are also the remains of a gigantic boat lift.
Also nearby is the Foxton Canal Museum. The museum tells the story of the lift, locks and the lives associated with Foxton Locks. Their exhibits are all housed in the reconstructed boilerhouse which once powered the boat lift. They are open most weekends and most school holidays. There is an entrance fee of £4 per adult and children are free.
