Gladstone Pottery Museum
Museum Overview
Gladstone Pottery Museum is located in Longton, Staffordshire. It is a working museum that makes pottery on a site typical of those once common in the area from the time of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th to the mid-20th century.
Today it is the only complete Victorian pottery factory of its kind and it offers a fascinating insight into the history of Stoke-on-Trent which is known as The Potteries. You can see what the conditions were like for the people, including children, that worked there.
You will be able to see demonstrations and traditional skills in original workshops. There is the opportunity to try your hand at throwing a pot, making a bone china flower or decorating a piece of pottery for a small extra charge. Around the museum, there are children’s trails and they also host a number of annual events.
