Glencoe Mountain Resort

Glencoe Mountain Resort

The Glencoe Mountain Resort is located in the picturesque area of Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands. The resort is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and offers stunning views of the area. It is Scotland’s original snowsports centre and they also offer biking and other activities.

Although there are snowsports in the winter the resort is also open in the summer. You can enjoy a ride on the chairlift with the opportunity to walk back down if you fancy it. The chairlift runs throughout the year and takes you from the valley floor up to 2200ft in just 12 minutes. There are spectacular views of waterfalls, Rannoch Moor and towards the Buchaille Etive More.

If you are feeling adventurous you can walk up to another viewpoint on the Summit of Creag Dhubb. This is a brisk 3/4 mile walk. In the summer you can enjoy their mountain biking trails and there is bike hire should you need it. They even offer mountain bike coaching.

Also in the summer families can have a go at tubing. It is great fun for all ages and sessions last for 30 minutes. Under 5s are free, if sharing a tube with an adult or £5 if they want their own mini-tube. Tubing runs from May through to the end of October. Younger children can be accommodated when they are quiet. Kids will love the treasure hunt that is available in the warmer months.

In the winter snowsports are available towards the end of November when the first snow arrives and are available until the last of the decent snow. They run a snow sports school plus the whole family can have fun sledging. You can race down the 75-metre slope and end your day with a yummy hot chocolate. Other fun activities include igloo building, snowman competitions and Zibob races. You can of course also take your own ski equipment and pay a fee to ski on their slopes.
