Glenesk Folk Museum

Glenesk Folk Museum

The Glenesk Folk Museum is located in Glenesk near Brechin, Angus. It is housed in a former shooting lodge known as “The Retreat” which used to belong to the Earls of Dalhousie.

The museum contains artefacts and documents relating to the history of the surrounding area. They also have regular demonstrations of local skills and crafts. The museum was first established in 1955 by a local school teacher and was refurbished and expanded in 2007.

Artefacts are arranged thematically into rooms and if you want to extend your visit you can also enjoy a woodland walk. Their displays are changed regularly to show as much of their extensive collection as possible.
