Great Central Railway Nottingham
The Great Central Railway Nottingham, otherwise known as the GCRN, is a transport museum with heritage train rides in Nottinghamshire. The trains run from the south side of the village of Ruddington with return trips to Loughborough and back. It takes in 10 miles of beautiful scenery from Nottinghamshire to Leicestershire.
They run a varied schedule with both steam and diesel trains. Plus a whole host of annual special events, many of which are just for families. All of their trains feature onboard catering with many services featuring a first-class buffet car.
The main station is Ruddington where there is a cafe, a fun narrow-gauge line operated by the NSMEE and a collection of historic buses. Plus there are three model railways. The main platform is alongside the Rushcliffe Country Park in Mere way. There are more facilities within the park including an excellent children’s play area.
