Great Orme Tramway

Great Orme Tramway

The Great Orme Tramway takes visitors from the centre of Llandudno up to the summit of the Great Orme. It is Britain’s only funicular tramway that travels on public roads and it has been open since 1902. Climbing 1500m through the Great Orme Country Park and Nature Reserve to the Great Orme’s spectacular summit. You can relive the experience of travel more than 100 years ago in their lovingly restored original tramcars, each of which has been named after a Saint.

The unique journey begins at Victoria Station located close to the pier. Tickets can not be booked in advance and you may struggle to purchase tickets after 3 pm. You can bring non-powered wheelchairs and small folding prams on the tram.

At the halfway station you can discover the line’s history before changing trams. Once at the summit you can visit another exhibition, enjoy a picnic or a walk. There is a large outdoor playground for the kids and the Bronze Age copper mines are just a 5-minute walk from the tram’s halfway station.
