Great Wood Somerset

Great Wood is a forest located near Over Stowey in Somerset. It is a stunning site situated in the Quantocks and it is a great place to enjoy a family picnic.
You can enjoy a leisurely stroll, go on a long-distance horse ride or discover the forest by bike. There are many nooks and crannies to explore and a majestic 2-mile red walk which is great for families with some super tall Douglas first trees. You may even spot some wildlife such as Red Deer, ravens, buzzards, crossbills and more.
There aren’t any waymarked cycle routes but there are plenty of bridleways and forest roads to explore. You will also be rewarded with some wonderful views across the forest.
