Grizedale Forest
Grizedale Forest is a large woodland area of around 25 square kilometres in the Lake District, Cumbria. It is located to the east of Coniston water with a number of hills, small tarns and the settlements of Grizedale and Satterthwaite. It is a great day out for all ages with some breathtaking views, amazing artwork and endless forest trails. The forest is maintained by Forestry England.
As well as walking trails you can also explore the forest on bikes and horseback. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for unique sculptures along the trails. These are dotted throughout the forest. They also have a Go Ape course which has a charge and booking is recommended.
The forest has 10 walking trails and 9 cycle trails. There is a visitor centre with a cafe and toilets. There are picnic areas, bike hire and a play area. The adventure playground is mostly made of wood and has animals, with a forest theme including bird hides and snakes to play on and in.
