Groudle Glen Railway

Groudle Glen Railway

The Groudle Glen Railway is located in Baldrine on the Isle of Man. It is a 2 ft narrow gauge railway and is owned and operated by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers. It operates on summer Sundays from May to September plus Wednesday evenings in July and August and a number of annual special events.

The line was built in 1896 in the late Victorian era to cater for a new demand for transport down to Groudle Glen. Today you can take a walk through the beautiful Groudle Glen to find their main station at Lhen Coan. From here you can take a relaxing steam train trip through the trees and out onto the stunning cliff tops to the Sea Lion Rocks visitor centre and tea rooms.

Points of interest along the line include the Manx Electric railway and viaduct plus the old waterwheel ‘Little Isabella’ and the old bandstand. Plus the old lime kiln (request stop), the site of the former zoo, souvenir shop and the Sea Lion Rocks tea room and visitor centre.
