Gwrych Castle
Gwrych Castle is located near Abergele, North Wales. It is a grade I listed 19th-century house that has been the home to ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here.
The castle is a hauntingly beautiful ruin and is open to visitors. The majority of the set for the TV series has been removed but a few things have been kept. The main courtyard which was used by the campmates features the privy, the famous telephone box and the lookout. You will also be able to visit The Clink which has been left exactly as it was. There are self-guided tours available on arrival which explain which areas were used and what they were used for.
Inside the castle, it mostly remains a ruin, however, there are a few internal rooms and outbuildings that you can visit. These include the Chapel, Bakehouse, their shop and exhibition space. Work is underway to restore more of the castle and the estate.
They have been working to restore the castle’s pleasure gardens for the past 20 years. The woodland walks were mostly impassable with pathways lost but many have now been painstakingly restored. There are plans to provide access to caves and restore a historical tower within the grounds.
