The Hamsterley Forest and Visitor Centre is located in Redford near Hamster, County Durham. It is a large forest offering trails for walking, cycling and horseback riding.

What is there to do at Hamsterley Forest?

You can spend time amongst the trees on their new well-being trail. They invite you to take a mindful walk through the forest and relax. Geocaching is very popular in the forest, it is an activity that utilises GPS technology to locate and find hidden objects.

If you venture into the woods there are some sculptures from the popular stories by Julia Donaldson of The Gruffalo and the Gruffalo’s Child. Each wooden sculpture has been carved in a different position, can you find them all?

The forest has 33 miles of way-marked trails perfect for cycling and mountain biking. There is a blue mountain bike trail suitable for families and then three harder trails for mountain bikes. The forest also has an adventure play area and it’s a perfect place to enjoy some wildlife watching.
