Hebden Bridge Picture House
The Hebden Bridge Picture House is located in the centre of Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. They are one of the last remaining council-owned cinemas in Britain and together with the adjacent shops, it forms a Grade II listed building.
Hebden Bridge Picture House Overview
The picture house was originally built around 1919-1921. It is an independent cinema with daily evening screenings, weekend matinees and matinees during most school holidays. As well as the latest movies they also screen live broadcasts of theatre, opera, ballet, music and more via satellite.
The cinema has both digital and 35mm projection and its one screen has over 500 seats with the interior looking more like a Victorian theatre than a cinema. They even have a screening every Thursday morning where they serve free tea or coffee.
Every penny you spend at the kiosk and the bar goes back into the cinema as they are run on a not-for-profit basis. They sell hot and cold drinks as well as beers, wine and Prosecco, the only thing they don’t sell is bottled water. They have sweets, ice cream, popcorn and more.
