Hill Top National Trust

Hill Top is a National Trust property near Ambleside in Cumbria. It is a 17th-century house which was once the home of the children’s author and illustrator Beatrix Potter who, on her death, left the property to the National Trust.
Today it is open to the public as a museum house shown as Beatrix Potter herself would have known it. The garden surrounding the house has been maintained in a style in keeping with Potter’s illustrations.
The house contains three downstairs rooms, the entrance hall, a parlour and a scullery. Upstairs there is the sitting room, treasure room, bedroom and new room. All of these rooms can be entered by visitors with a few rooms not included in the visitor route.
