Hinton Ampner is a National Trust property located near Alresford in Hampshire. It is a country house estate with gardens, the house was rebuilt in 1960 after a fire.

Things to do at Hinton Ampner

Today the house has beautifully proportioned rooms which house a collection of ceramics and art. Rooms you can see include a drawing room, library, dining room, bedrooms and more.

You can enjoy walks in acres of countryside with glorious views over the South Downs countryside. There are gardens with manicured lawns that lead the eye down to avenues of sculptured topiary, borders of roses and even more wonderful views.

Other parts of the estate and gardens to explore include a walled garden and an orchard. There is a lily pond on the east side of the house, a formal garden, a sunken garden and an elegant temple that was built around 1939.

There is a cafe serving food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

Historic house with a number of rooms you can explore, gardens with different areas and a wider estate for walking. There are toilets and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

Free for members of the National Trust. Adult house and garden peak tickets cost £16, children £8.80, under 5s are free and gift aid tickets cost slightly more. Tickets are slightly cheaper in the winter.

Hinton Ampner is open for most of the year with some closure over winter. For up-to-date opening times and dates please visit their website.

Dog friendly?

Registered assistance dogs are permitted throughout. Pet dogs are welcome in the gardens, shop and second-hand bookshop on short leads, and on all the estate walks.

Are they accessible?

There are accessible toilets/baby-changing facilities by the mansion in the courtyard. Accessible Parking is available in the main car park, further parking is available closer to the Mansion. Please contact the venue for further information.
