Holywell Bay Beach

Holywell Bay Beach has to be one of the most beautiful places in Cornwall but it is also very popular during the summer. There are loads of things to do here but no shops or cafes. The only two places that serve food and drinks are located in the small village, one a short walk from the beach and the other just up the main road.

The beach has amazing views over to Gull Rock, tall sand dunes and beautiful caves that can be accessed during low tide. There’s also a meandering river that runs around one side of the beach which is perfect for children to play in. The sand is mostly soft and golden in colour. If you like walking then the coastal path opens up more opportunities for some amazing views and more beaches.

This beach is our favourite spot to catch a sunset, with the dramatic V-shaped rocks in the background making the perfect photo opportunity. Parking can be very limited during the summer so be sure to get there before 10:30 am (or after 4 pm). There is a small car park located next to the Gull Rock Bar and Coffee House but this is quite expensive and only has spaces for ~20 cars. The other larger National Trust car park is located 10 minutes from the beach. For National Trust members, parking is free, for the day.

There is a small toilet block located in the village which is currently free to use. It is however a 10-15 minute walk from the beach so be prepared if you have younger children.
