Hopetoun House
Hopetoun House is located in Queensferry near Edinburgh. It is a place of outstanding natural beauty which has Scotland’s finest stately home at its heart. The house was built between 1699-1701 and is a Category A listed building.
The English garden-style landscape park was laid out in 1725. There is an 18th-century walled garden and in the grounds, an 18th-century mound was excavated to reveal the remains of an earlier 15th-century manor house. Visitors can explore the grounds at their leisure and the house is open for guided tours.
During the summer months, parts of the castle and gardens are open to visitors. For the younger visitors, there are children’s trails in the house plus grounds trails. Please enquire about these when you arrive. In the ranger centre, there are interactive displays and the chance to handle wildlife finds from the grounds.
